Mami Watanabe is a Tokyo-based energy transition professional working at the intersection of infrastructure development, power market reform, and market-based climate instruments. With over a decade of experience spanning power-plant supply, management consulting, and environmental commodities, she combines systems-level insight with commercial execution to advance decarbonization. She began her career at Kawasaki Heavy Industries, where she spent seven years developing flexible gas power generation projects across Japan and Southeast Asia, gaining firsthand experience in energy security, infrastructure finance, and emerging-market dynamics. At EY, she advised utilities on system transformation, new market entry, and energy storage market research, linking regulatory shifts with business model adaptation. She currently serves as a Corporate Account Manager at ACT Solutions Japan, supporting multinational corporations in executing Scope 2 and Scope 3 decarbonization strategies. Mami holds an MSc in Energy Economics and Policy from UCL, where she researched the political economy of fossil-fuel PPA renegotiation. She is committed to advancing a just and inclusive energy transition and actively contributes to empowering women leaders across the global energy community.
