Maria Paula Piedrahita Hoyos is an environmental and energy law professional with international experience spanning Europe and Latin America. She currently serves as an Associate in the Environmental and Energy Law practice at Posse Herrera Ruiz in Colombia, advising industrial and energy sector companies on environmental governance, regulatory compliance, and ESG integration. Previously, she worked within EDF’s Nuclear Fleet Division in France, where she contributed to environmental decision-support processes across 18 nuclear power plants. Her work included coordinating ISO 14001 implementation, supporting regulatory audits before the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN), and presenting compliance assessments to senior management. This experience strengthened her expertise in environmental governance within highly regulated energy systems. Maria Paula also gained experience in international climate governance at Colombia’s Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology, and Environmental Studies (IDEAM), contributing to COP27-related policy inputs under the UNFCCC framework. She holds master’s degrees in Energy Law and in Risk and Sustainable Development from France and is committed to advancing sustainable corporate decision-making in the Latin American energy sector.
