Renad Aldebasi
Carbon Specialist - Ministry of Energy, Saudi Arabia
Renad Aldebasi is an emerging leader in carbon management and clean energy, committed to advancing sustainable solutions for a low-carbon future. As a Carbon Specialist at the Ministry of Energy, she plays a key role in shaping Saudi Arabia’s national strategy for Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS). She develops policies, regulations, and financial structures to promote large-scale CCUS deployment, working closely with government bodies, industry stakeholders, and international partners to establish business models and drive climate action.
Renad holds a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, specialising in sustainability, circular economy, and life-cycle assessment. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia, where she received the Trek Excellence Scholarship and the Summer Undergraduate Research Award.
A recognised advocate for decarbonization, Renad has represented Saudi Arabia’s National Circular Carbon Economy Program at global platforms such as COP29 and the Carbon Capture MENA Summit, contributing her expertise to drive the Kingdom’s leadership in the global energy transition.
