Ruth Marsh

Energy Analyst, New Zealand Steel

Ruth Marsh is an Energy Analyst at New Zealand Steel, supporting management, strategy, and advisory work across electricity, gas, and emissions portfolios. Her current focus is enabling the transition to electrified steelmaking, one of New Zealand’s largest government‑funded industrial decarbonisation initiatives. Her work also spans improving electricity and natural gas demand response, advancing energy analytics and automation, and strengthening organisational capability related to the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme and emerging carbon border frameworks. Ruth collaborates with BlueScope’s global team on climate and energy strategy, including the development of the Glenbrook Energy Precinct. Outside of work, she is a running coach for a charity supporting recovery facilities, mentors through the Young Energy Professionals Network New Zealand, and is a member of Mana Wāhine and Women in Energy Trading. She believes innovation and collaboration are essential to navigating the energy trilemma and building a future that better serves the people most impacted by energy system change.
