Sorayadebie Jhagroe is a passionate professional and changemaker from Suriname. Her focus areas include the nexus of energy, environment, and climate action, and women’s leadership and youth development in international relations. She holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Management of Natural Resources and continues to expand her knowledge through professional courses.
Soraya serves as the Regulatory Specialist for Economic Regulation and Supervision at the Energy Authority of Suriname, contributing significantly to shaping the country’s regulatory framework. With a background in sustainable energy management, she is particularly interested in energy efficiency and renewable energy within the energy transition.
Soraya actively participates in multistakeholder partnerships across regions. She is well-known for her strong drive to achieve exceptional results through a multidisciplinary approach. She is a participant in RMI’s Women in Renewable Energy Program, Blue Planet Alliance Global Ambassador, and a member of the Caribbean Development Bank’s Future Leaders Network. She was honoured with the CARICOM Women in Sustainable Energy Award 2022 in the Youth Leader category.
