As a senior Performance Engineer, Yong Hwee seeks process improvement and efficiency optimization in operations of the power plant. Yong Hwee is overseeing the installation of Variable Speed Drives for major energy consuming pumps, which will improve operating efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. As project manager, he worked closely with the technical team tocreate specifications and evaluate proposals. He engages OEM and external vendors to ensure the modification is completed safely and with minimum impact to operations. By integrating data analytics and his technical knowledge of power generation processes, Yong Hwee has enabled condition monitoring and predictive maintenance of major equipment in the power plant to increase reliability and minimize downtime. To streamline and optimize operations, he has introduced the use of unmanned aerial vehicle for inspection and detection of abnormal conditions. With an interest in sustainability, Yong Hwee is continuously seeking innovative ideas and new technology that can make power generation and the use of electricity cheaper, greener and smarter.
